THIS guy. I love him fiercely, and if you know him, you probably do too. He’s a good friend, one of those guys that has little to say until something needs to be said, he’s genuine, humble, has the biggest heart, and is probably the hardest worker you’ll ever meet. And the best part about him isn’t that he’s dad of the year or a model husband (although he’s basically a dream in those departments)…the BEST part about him is that he belongs to Jesus. He’s the son of the King.
We get a little sappy around here this time of year, because we know we have much to be thankful for. It was only 3 years ago that Derek spent this weekend (his birthday weekend) in a coma, on life support, and the rest of us stood around with our hearts ripped open, crying out to God for mercy and healing and hope
WORSHIP. That’s what we did when we were in the trenches and that’s what we’re still doing now that we’ve been lifted out. I snapped this shot of him yesterday as he was heading out the door to catch a plane to Houston, you know…to go to the SUPERBOWL…(what the what?!)
I’m so happy for this guy. That he gets to be there and take it all in…that a dream of his that was never even on the table of possibility, is coming true thanks to his equally amazing and generous brother in law. Only God can orchestrate the things that happen in our life. The crazy good, and the crazy hard. May we sing and worship thru it all, my friends.
His Art of Homage hat… he wears it and means it ?
