Rowan finally had tubes put in her ears on Friday and her adedoides removed. We’ve been hoping that this would be the answer to our prayers…and that this baby girl would finally be able to sleep through the night. Yeah right! Maybe I’m being pessimistic…it’s only been two days since the surgery. We’ll see I guess. I’m sticking to my guns though and she’s going to have to tough it out in her own bed!
I can’t believe she’s 9 months old now and refuses to sleep alone. It’s so frustrating for us. Seriously. I haven’t been able to sleep through the night since she’s been born…except for the two times she’s stayed overnight with my mom (thanks mom). She’s been grabbing at her ears to crazily that she makes them bleed…so we’ve been moving her from her swing, to a bouncy seat, to a propped up pillow. You name it! We’ve tried white noise, soft lullabies, a fan, a toy that makes music, sleeping her on her side, her tummy, her back, giving her a bottle and putting her in her crib, giving her bottles laced with large amounts of formula and baby cereal, lots of praying, a warm bath before bedtime with sleepytime bubble bath and lotion, tylenol with codeine (just this week after surgery…but didn’t work either!)…I honestly could go on and on.
It’s funny whenever I talk to someone who has a baby who sleeps thru the night because they tell me you HAVE to try this — it will work. Nothing works!
Tonight we’re kicking off “hellweek” a day early and starting tonight (Saturday) by forcing Row-Row to sleep in her crib. We’re going to let her cry for 15 minutes, then 25, then 35…we’ll see how it goes. I’m planning to wear ear plugs to make it thru the night, and I’m setting my alarm on my phone to vibrate so that I’ll wake up and check on her at those intervals. It’s the only way I can do it!!
i'm so sorry you guys are having trouble with Rowan sleeping. i hope it gets better and that she will start sleeping in her crib…through the night.
